Whilst some may say you should never judge a book by its cover, between the name Young Kato and the haircut of the lead singer, I almost cut this band off before I gave them a fair listen. Quite glad I didn’t as “Drink, Dance, Play” is a cracking song, and the single is out from 3 June on LAB Records.

The six-piece band, who met in Cheltenham, play a band of pure indie rock, much in the same vein of The Smiths, The Crookes, and The Housemartins. Although they’re not doing owt new, it’s a sound we’re happy to revisit quite often. Following their single, an EP is scheduled for release on 23 June.

Dates below.

2nd June Cribbs Causeway Queens Diamond Jubilee Festival, Bristol
20th July 2 Pigs, Cheltenham
21st July Gloucester Park Festival, Gloucester
26th July The Rainbow, Birmingham
27th July Thekla, Bristol
