BIG BLACK DELTA

It’s not often that a band’s bio grabs me – mostly I am just reading bullshit about how an artist is breaking new ground, when in actuality they sound as shite as everyone else. Big Black Delta – the new project of Jonathan Bates formerly of Mellowdrone – grabbed my attention when he posited “If you didn’t have standard pop music as a reference, what would your pop music sound like?” Good question mate.

Bates, originating from Venezuela and attending school in Boston, now calls Los Angeles home. A bit space obsessed, he pushes electronic music beyond standard boundaries by mixing the sounds in his head with the sounds of pop music. It’s not what you’d expect and it’s utterly addicting.

Check out the band’s webpage for more info, including a ton of downloads.
