BIG WAVE RIDERS

This whole blogging thing over the past week has been a lot of fun.  I’ve made friends from all over the world and I’ve had popular Twitter personalities retweet my witty comments.  Most importantly though, I’ve discovered some pretty awesome music.

Take Helsinski group Big Wave Riders for example.  Their name may conjure up images of surfers dudes in Costa Rica or Australia, and although they say that their music is inspired by waves, this is definitely not some insipid Jack Johnson shit.  New tune “Skate or Die” merges post-punk and lo-fi sensibilities, while track “Republic of the Average” slinks and slithers along with just a dash of surf guitars.
